FAQs
How Should I Store My Wig?
You can store on a wig stand or in a wig box. The wig stand will allow the style to be maintained nicely.
How Do I Wash My Wig?
Please Visit Our Wig Care Page For Our Washing Instructions.
How Often Should I Wash My Wig?
Every 3-4 weeks is often enough. You’ll see that your wig doesn’t get dirty or oily like your natural hair. Washing it frequently like our own bio hair isn’t necessary, and washing it less often will help your wig last longer.
What Type Of Brush Should I Use When Brushing My Wig?
We recommend a looped bristle wig brush as it won’t tear at the hair. They’re very gentle brushes and helpful with knots.
Always remember to start at the bottom of the wig when brushing and slowly move up. Don’t start at crown as this can make knots worse.
What Are Return Hairs And How Do I Style Them?
Any lace top wig will have some return hairs, which are shorter hairs throughout the crown. This is totally normal and necessary. When the hairs are tied and knotted into the lace top, there is a return that is left. For example is a wig is 20” the hairs used at the top will be 23-26” to allow for the knot and return.
For styling them so they stay smooth, simply use your curling iron or flat iron to smooth down on the crown or use a bit of gel to smooth them. You can also wet slightly with water and use a blow dryer to style them.
How Do I Cut The Lace?
This can be intimidating the first time you do it, but remember just to start slowly.
Ensure that you pin the hair back from the lace. Using small needle nose scissors, start cutting in the middle and work your way towards one side. Repeat on the other side and trim carefully around ear tabs.
Remember to leave more lace than you think you need at first, so that you don’t cut the lace too short. Work towards an overall length of approximately 1/4”.
Can I Use Heat To Style My Wig?
Yes you can use heat to style you wig. Be sure to use a lower heat setting, and also use a heat protectant. We recommend using a few drops of K18 Molecular Repair Oil. Try not to style your wig with heat too often as this can dry out the hair.
Can I Have A Hairstylist Cut And Color My Wig?
Absolutely! Having a hairstylist cut the wig will make it custom to you. We always recommend having some customization done by a professional stylist.
Most of the wigs can be dyed darker, but we would recommend against lightening, as the hair is more delicate. Always consult with a professional hairstylist for any colouring work.
Please do not hesitate to contact our team if you need recommendations for hair colourists in your area.
Can I Use Hairspray And Styling Products On My Wig?
Yes, just make sure to use small amounts, and use alcohol free products. Products with alcohol can dry out the hair. Avoid spraying hair spray directly on the lace.
How Do I Know My Cap Size?
We recommend measuring the circumference, front to nape and ear to ear (over top) to determine the cap size needed. These are approximate, as each individual wig can fit slightly differently. Please contact us for the exact measurements of any particular product. You can also set up a virtual consultation with one of our team members to discuss the cap style and size that would work best for you.
