Hair Care

Full lace and lace top wigs are delicate so please be extra careful when handling and storing.

Wash.

Washing your wig or topper shouldn’t be a daunting task if you follow these few steps!

First make sure you have brushed out the knots. This will make it much easier to wash and condition.

Thoroughly wet the hair using lukewarm or warm water.

Always be careful with a lace front piece that you aren’t pulling on the lace. Be gentle.

Use about a quarter size drop of gentle, SLS free shampoo and gently rub through the lengths of the hair. I like to concentrate on the length of the hair and not put too much shampoo on the crown. Less is more and you can always shampoo a second time if the wig isn’t rinsing clean.

After you’ve shampooed and rinsed out the shampoo completely, you can apply conditioner to the length and ends. DO NOT condition the roots as this can loosen the knots. I like to really get the conditioner through the lengths and will finger comb it through to the ends.

Rinse out all conditioner and squeeze excess water from wig or topper.
Roll into a towel and squeeze water out further.

Finger comb gently to remove any knots.

Add a few drops of an oil like Davines Oi oil

I like to let mine dry for a few hours flat on a towel and then I move it to a wig storage stand once it’s a bit dryer.

Wait til completely dry before styling.

You should be washing your wig every 3-4 weeks, they will not get as dirty or oily as your natural hair. Washing it less frequently will help the wig last longer.

Brush.

Always use a looped bristle wig brush as it won’t tear at the hair.

Start at the bottom of the wig or topper and slowly move up. Do not start brushing at the crown as this will make the knots worse.

Style.

Be sure to use a low heat setting and a heat protectant while styling the hair. Avoid styling too often as this can dry out the hair.

Be sure to use alcohol free products for styling the hair and to use small amounts. Avoid spraying product directly on the lace.

Any lace top wig will have some return hairs which are shorter hairs throughout the crown. This is totally normal and necessary. When the hairs are tied and knotted into the lace top, there is a return that is left. For example is a wig is 20” the hairs used in the top will be 23-26” to allow for the knot and return.

For styling them so they stay smooth, simply use your curling iron to smooth down on the crown. Or use a bit of gel to smooth them.
